Mrs. Laura Brooks

Mrs. Laura Brooks is a 6th grade Special Education teacher at AMS. She has a sixth grade homeroom. She is a graduate of South Greene High School in Greeneville, Tennessee, and a college graduate of Tusculum College and Berry College.
Mrs. Brooks has been teaching for seven years, this being her first at AMS. As a student, she was inspired by her was inspired by her fourth grade teacher, who also happens to be her mother. "She made learning exciting and fun. She also cared deeply about children and I could see what a difference she made in the lives of others," said Mrs. Brooks.
Her advice to students, “Your choices define who you are. Make good choices.”
She has been married for 19 years, and she had two children.

Mrs. Darlene Chumley

Mrs. Darlene Chumley is a 6th grade math teacher at AMS. She is a graduate of Wheeler High School in Marietta, Georgia, and a college graduate from Berry College.
Mrs. Chumley has been teaching for twenty years, all being at AMS. As a student, she was inspired by her teacher Sidney Benton who taught her math from her eighth grade year all the way through her senior year. “He knew his content so well and was excited about teaching it. He always made me feel that I could do the math whether it was Algebra I or Calculus,” states Mrs. Chumley.
She advises her students to “always take the high road in dealing with others and problems. It is not always easy to do, but you will always be glad you did.”
When she is not teaching, she can be found reading Eugenia Price, spending time with her grandkids, or taking her SeaDoo out to ride the ocean waves.

Ms. Darlene Freeman

Ms. Darlene Freeman is a 6th grade English-language arts class at AMS. She is a graduate of Armuchee High School. She graduated college from Samford University, Shorter College, and Walden University.
Ms. Freeman has been teaching at AMS for eleven years. “I grew up in the Armuchee community and love having the opportunity to teach in the same area I was raised,” states Ms. Freeman.

Coach David Honea

Coach David Honea is a 6th grade math teacher at AMS and head baseball coach at Armuchee High School. He graduated from Cedartown High School and Shorter College.
Coach Honea has been teaching at AMS for fifteen years. He advises his students to “study and always do your best.” A middle school teacher who impacted his life was Carol Thornton.
When Coach Honea is not teaching or coaching, he can probably be found spending time with his family or fishing.
Mrs. Georgeann Keasler

Mrs.
Georgeann Keasler is a 6th grade science teacher at AMS. She graduated from West Rome
High School. She obtained an undergraduate degree from West Georgia
College and a master's degree from Berry College.
Mrs. Keasler has been teaching for twenty-eight years, thirteen of those being at AMS. A teacher who had a positive impact on her life was Phyllis Dasher, who taught her Language Arts at West Rome Jr. High. Ms. Dasher "taught me to love to appreciate words and using words," Mrs. Keasler said.
Her words of advice for students: "Approach new learning experience with an open mind. Always give your best effort. When you do less than your best, the main person you let down is yourself."

Her favorite hobby is reading, especially Harlan Coben. She is a big fan of guacamole and enjoys eating capers in her spaghetti.

Mary Stuart Ratledge

Mrs. Mary Stuart Ratledge is a social studies teacher at AMS. She is a graduate of Dunwoody High School in Dunwoody, Georgia. She graduate college from Southern Methodist University and Texas Woman’s University.
Mrs. Ratledge has been teaching for twenty-one years, three of which have been at AMS.
When Mrs. Ratledge is not teaching, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, playing tennis, traveling, and reading. Her favorite authors are Henry Thoreau and Pat Conroy.
Dr. Cathy Studdard

Dr. Cathy Studdard is a 6th and 7th grade English-language arts teacher at AMS. She is a graduate of Piedmont High School in Piedmont, Alabama. She graduated college from Jacksonville State University and Argosy University/Sarasota.
Dr. Studdard has been teaching at AMS for eleven years. She advises her students “don’t wait passively to be ‘taught’ something… take charge of your own learning experiences. Make learning happen for you, and make learning a habit.”
As a student, Dr. Studdard was influenced by a teacher named Linda Ayers because “she believed in me,” states Dr. Studdard.
When she is not teaching, Dr. Studdard enjoys reading books by John Grisham or traveling.
Mrs. Mary Beth Tucker

Mrs. Mary Beth Tucker is a 6th, 7th, and 8th grade social studies teacher at AMS. She is a graduate of Cartersville High School. She is a college graduate of Berry College and she is currently working on her M.Ed. from Shorter College.
Mrs. Tucker has been teaching for twelve years, all of which have been at AMS. As a student, Mrs. Chesser, her English-language arts teacher had a positive impact on her life.
Her advice to students: “Enjoy this time and learn as much as you can. Knowledge is powerful.”
When Mrs. Tucker is not teaching, she enjoys reading, cooking, and playing with her children. Her favorite author is Stephanie Meyer.
